About us

Mykolaiv Water Hub was created and is being developed pursuing the SDGs: 6 (clean water and sanitation), 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure), 11 (sustainable cities and communities). It consists of four components:

Till 2022 Mykolaiv was known for its decaying shipbuilding soviet past. In 2022 it became a frontline city for 8 months in ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war. Currently approx. 50% of its population fled the city, critical infrastructure and industries are either damaged or destroyed.

In autumn 2022 the frontline moved further East and we see it as opportunity to create a new water-related ecosystem for the whole city.

Our goal is to turn Mykolaiv into flagship city for water related industries, research, and education.
Our vision is by 2035 to turn Mykolaiv into new urban ecosystem with main focus on water.

We provide mentorship, coaching, advisory services and are planning to provide financial support for innovative companies that want to operate in or with Mykolaiv in the following fields as: shipbuilding, potable water production, energy, transportation, agriculture, water sports and leisure.

Think tank for water-related research is being developed in cooperation with Berlin and Mykolaiv Univesities.

Startup accelerator

Investments

MWH Startup Accelerator provides coaching, mentorship, advisory and financial support for water-related innovative companies. It is a network of experts from various fields: lawyers, tax advisors, fundraisers etc that are there to boost the development of innovative ideas in Mykolaiv region.

Think Tank

Mykolaiv and Berlin Universities are cooperating together in the field of water-related research by contributing into research projects, publications, student exchange programmes, guest-professorship programmes etc.

The detailed concept of the think tank is now being developed.

Education Platform

We want population of Mykolaiv and of the region to actively participate in co-creation of new innovative ecosystem via development of learning and information materials, participation in lectures, discussions, workshops for children and adults.

Board Game: Vodohra

Education & public awareness

“Vodohra” provides fascinating information about the urban water infrastructure in Mykolaiv. The task is to build the water utility by placing cards with different elements of infrastructure in correct order: from water source to customer, and back to water source.

Currently the international version is being developed in cooperation with Game Lab of Humboldt University of Berlin.
